A project based on trees with character (scenes that focus on trees that gives character to the surrounding or to the tree it self).
My moodboard, looking at the different concept art of tree that give character to the scene or the trees itself.
Tree Study and Anatomy:-
looking at the popular colours of trees. I did a small texture study to see how the tree is created and how it gives that scaley effect.
these pacific study are based on the horror themes of trees, the study are mainly based on trees that have no leaves and looking at the shape of the bark in silhouettes.
Looking at leaf colours and the colour changes of leafs during seasonal change. understanding how the leaf grow off the branches.
looking at the different tree shapes that are most commonly seen in our parks, these studies are mostly used for how different types of tree have a different bush shapes thus giving their name.
Existing Concept Art Analysis:-
this concept art is from the popular games called Skrim. the concept art is for a town called Riverwood, the reasons why I looked at this particular piece is because I looking at how the trees have helped distinguish what sort of buildings they were. looking at the bottom left art piece it is clear that this is a ranch of a place where they specialise in wood.
This concept art is from Assassin Creed game, the reason why this caught my eyes is because how the use of nature i.e plants, trees, ponds help make the environment "seem" rich. In the game, the same place looks very rich with the use of nature; I think that if the nature wasn't there the place would be deserted and will look like ruins.
Initial Ideas:-
The two ideas are based on the horror theme since leaf-less trees are most commonly related to the horror theme.
As the horror theme, i thought of ideas of fantasy settings since tree are used or are iconic for wisdom or signs.
Idea Refinement:-
idea refinement of one of my fantasy idea.
Final Piece:-
finished piece, i personally think that I have rushed it with the details and tones; however I think that tried to convey my idea well.
