Smoking Bug

Stage 1:
This is my starting position where I'm knocking in the light and dark areas to reflect how the light will hit my bug guy, using a dark background to bring out the values a lot better was very useful.

Stage 2:
Here I focused on the main areas that I want to bring out of the bug design to make a better, clearer understanding oh his design; so by focusing on his head, neck and limbs I have captured a overall layout of his body.

Stage 3:
After capturing his overall design on his body, painting his body was a simple task, I used the colours from the reference pictures provided by selecting the eye dropper to select suitable colours for his body, I also added some little legs to give the character a more "bug" like look.

Stage 4:
After completing his body i decided to give more character to the bug by placing him in an environment of my own creation. I found the leaves to be very "vegetable" like as i was applying them with a brush style to i decided to change it for something more grass like.

Stage 5:
This is the results of applying the leaf like brush; I am pleased with the results so i decided to keep it. The tree at the back was a mixture of earth colours and applied over with a 'scatter' like brush.

Stage 6:
the final touch! Adding a cigarette and some smoke to give it the Alice in Wonderland look.

University Bench

A 3d model of a bench located on my University's campus.

Stage 1: basic modelling and proportions

Stage 2: Editing the polys to take the form of the bench and boards.

Stage 3: Adding the textures onto the model. These textures has been taken from photographs and modified further in Photoshop.

The 3D scene is then used for a animated sequence where the girl will approach the bench and sit on it.

Tree Bark Character

Initial Sketches:

Each sketch has been given a specific role to fit a fantasy orientated game theme such as warrior, warlock(wizards), brutes, engineers. Thus the characters designs revolve around their class type.

Stage 1:
Editing the drawn picture in Photoshop.

Stage 2:
Decided to work on the Staff and his mid section to begin with because i thought it will be an easier section to work on, also it helps to decide on the tones of the colours. The colours and selected from reference photo which i have taken.

Stage 3:
The Bush and his sash were painted with a scattered brush set which helped capture the realistic value of the bush and the small grass like thing.

Stage 4:
Here I focused on viewable branches we see. the X branches are very light however the colours were taken from a photographs which had a similar colour for the branches, however I could have made it darker but it fits well with the bush and sash.

Stage 5:
Painting in the "joints" with branch colours, I used 2 colours here because I want the joints to be viewable when i paint his body.

Stage 6:
With his body painted in he looks like a tree like creature however I think more more should have been put in for his body texture to be appear more tree like.
