Initial Sketches:
Each sketch has been given a specific role to fit a fantasy orientated game theme such as warrior, warlock(wizards), brutes, engineers. Thus the characters designs revolve around their class type.
Stage 1:
Editing the drawn picture in Photoshop.
Stage 2:
Decided to work on the Staff and his mid section to begin with because i thought it will be an easier section to work on, also it helps to decide on the tones of the colours. The colours and selected from reference photo which i have taken.
Stage 3:
The Bush and his sash were painted with a scattered brush set which helped capture the realistic value of the bush and the small grass like thing.
Stage 4:
Here I focused on viewable branches we see. the X branches are very light however the colours were taken from a photographs which had a similar colour for the branches, however I could have made it darker but it fits well with the bush and sash.
Stage 5:
Painting in the "joints" with branch colours, I used 2 colours here because I want the joints to be viewable when i paint his body.
Stage 6:
With his body painted in he looks like a tree like creature however I think more more should have been put in for his body texture to be appear more tree like.
