ERA: Modelling the Aztec Period

I and along with another team member were in charge of modelling the Aztec level. We used display models of the environment supposedly at the Aztec period.

Joshua Syrett (Team member of ERA) created a city plan of the main city of the Aztec level to show case where the buildings will be placed.

ERA: Modelling Futuristic Buildings

I was tasked to model buildings for the Futuristic level of ERA. I was given concept art from my group member.

This is the example of the concept art I was given:
Concept Art by Emma Haley (Team Member of ERA)

Below is my re-creation of her design in 3D:

I have also created my own buildings for the Futuristic level.

ERA: Creating A Roman City and Character

For ERA we decided to have various time periods in our game. We were aiming for a sandbox type game where the player can roam around and be able to jump between different periods. The periods we selected were Aztec,Roman Empire, Futuristic, Wasteland and Warring States of Japan. I chose Roman Empire and was given the task to create the character and the environment for the level.

Below are my character design and mood boards for the period:

However due to the size of the project and the deadline we had to cut back on a few levels and work on the Roman Empire was not continued.

Below is my mood board show casing different attempts of sea creature artist have made.

Anatomy Studies of Sea animals:

Initial Sketches:

WIP Video:

My finised idea is a mash up of all my initial ideas into one. the WIP video shows the development process of my creature and the improvement i have made to it.

Finished Piece:

I am pleased at the outcome of my final idea. however there are improvements needed. to make this art piece better i think if i had worked on the lighting more and the skin tone and texturing this would have been my best art piece. However i am happy with how the features of the shell and the head came about. I could have worked more on the teeth to make them blend with the scene.

Fat Guy/Minotaur 3D Modelling Exercise

In class we were to practice our typology of 3d character modelling.

Below is a reference picture we were asked to use. the aim was to recreate the model wit its original wireframe.

Below is my attempt. I did not go further than this stage since i ran out of time.

For this exercise we were asked to recreate a Minotaur from an existing concept art by following a TuT from YouTube by Glen Southern.

This is my outcome.

Project: SciFi Cannon Paintover

For this week assignment we were asked to create a sci-fi cannon which was a continuation of our sci-fi spaceship assignment.

Below is my mood board showcasing various sci-fi cannon designs

We were asked to view a video of a concept artist that has incorporated 3d modelling into his work. below are the notes of the options and tools he has used.

Sketches of Cannon idea.

WIP:

Rendered and Textured with base colour:

Final Piece:

I am pleased with my Cannon outcome. I have learned some new tricks for making concept art which was very helpful for future assignments. To make this concept art much better, I think should focus on mixing textures and paint to give it realistic plated body.

University's Building Project

The project was to re create our University in a 3D package and use it as fully functional interactive space for our avatars.

Below is the model of the section of the University that me and group was in charge of. I modelled the building whilst my other members of the group worked on other areas such as assets and textures.
