Project: SciFi Cannon Paintover

For this week assignment we were asked to create a sci-fi cannon which was a continuation of our sci-fi spaceship assignment.

Below is my mood board showcasing various sci-fi cannon designs

We were asked to view a video of a concept artist that has incorporated 3d modelling into his work. below are the notes of the options and tools he has used.

Sketches of Cannon idea.

Final Piece:

I am pleased with my Cannon outcome. I have learned some new tricks for making concept art which was very helpful for future assignments. To make this concept art much better, I think should focus on mixing textures and paint to give it realistic plated body.

University's Building Project

The project was to re create our University in a 3D package and use it as fully functional interactive space for our avatars.

Below is the model of the section of the University that me and group was in charge of. I modelled the building whilst my other members of the group worked on other areas such as assets and textures.

Project: Alien Project - PART 1

Initial Idea:

WIP:

Turntable:

Final Piece:

i am pleased of the outcome of using zbrush to bring out the anatomy of my plant more and the paint job however the background of the art piece is bringing the work of  the plant down. I did rush the final piece because of time it took to re-configure myself with zbrush and creating all the necessary work for this weeks assignment. I had a few technical problems with the overall build of the model however i managed to work around it and learned why this problem occurred. Because of this i now have a better understanding on how models work inand out from different 3d packages.

Project: Wrinkles

For this project we were asked to create a creature or animal that has wrinkles.

Below is my mood board. I looked up various characters from across different media to see how they were designed and how the wrinkles appear on them. I then moved onto searching how wrinkles are shown on humans of different ages and animals to see how and where the wrinkles appear the strongest.

Below is my research in understanding how the wrinkles corresponds to the muscle in the face.

A self-portrait of me creasing my eyes to produce wrinkles. media used, charcoal.

Sketches of aged creatures and humans design.

My preferred idea, I did a large copy of it to refine my idea.

Further refinement of idea.

3D sculpted Model.

My wrinkles project was a bit tricky to do, my plan was to use Zbrush an upgraded version of Sculptris thus making is far more difficult to use since i have not touched zbrush before. After looking at TuTs on the internet i finally manage to do a some-what-like wrinkled alien; i am somewhat pleased with the outcome since i have not used the program before however the wrinkle works is quite hard to see. I am more familiar with the program thanks to wrinkles project.
